Welcome to my blog and new website. Whether you have found us for the first time or you're a regular visitor to our site and classes, we really hope you love the newly designed site. Please do feel free to get in touch with me, if there is a particular Workshop theme you would love to see included on my group Class Schedule.

For the last 26 years I have loved Cake Decorating and Sugar Flower Making with a passion ! In the early years, its fair to say, I loved flower making at times to the exclusion of any other interest in my life! Maybe this was life's way of guiding me to what would become my job hey! I love to teach creative Sugarcraft classes and have been doing so for just shy of 17 years now. I feel so lucky to meet and teach all my lovely students.

During the design process for this new site, I did have a few fleeting moments, as to if I should include a Blog page again, but then as I sat quietly tuning into whether to share this page, it came to me yes include it Lou, but this time make it more real! Share with your students inside information about the way in which you personally love to create and work! How the trees and the flowers call to you, and inspire you to create. For me, how I create and the magical natural world are deeply connected and so as we enter into this space together, I aim to share with you, a little more about my creative process, and also of course 'Cakery Tips'! And maybe a little behind the scenes here at The Studio.

Really hope you'll drop by and enjoy reading my posts.

Thank you for all the wonderful positive feedback about my new site. Sending huge thanks to all the people who have took the time to send such lovely emails and messages on social media. I truly value your support and I am touched by your kindness.

I realise we are moving closer and closer to winter, but here in South Shropshire we are still surrounded by many Autumn Colours! I have always loved Autumn! This may be due to the fact I was born in this season, but also I just adore the colours....and The Autumn light! Over the years I have created lots of pieces inspired by Autumn, but right now I can feel a project inspired by all the seasons! I can feel the first sparks of inspiration touching my heart. The energy of this will build till I feel drawn to sit and create the pieces or piece! Some of the pieces I birth into life to share with you as creative workshops and some will always remain just for me. I will keep you posted though on how this project is progressing!

Four Seasons Mini Cake Workshop

Happy New Year!

To celebrate a new year and it's seasons here in the uk, I have designed a new workshop inspired, by Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter.

Each little 2inch round fruit cake features flowers and foliage to celebrate one season. When viewed as a group the cakes show the beautiful array of colours that the seasons offer to us!

There are many skills to be learned in this class, from how to marzipan your cakes through to creating unwired flowers, plus much much more.

The class is designed so that students new to cake decorating may attend, but it is open to anyone wishing to learn how to create these little magical cakes.

I welcome you to join me, for this fun creative day at our Studio,

Sugar Flower

Sunflowers have to be one of the most cheerful and happy flowers of the Summer! Along with its powerful visual presence, the energy of Sunflowers offers us the opportunity to re-balance and restore ourselves...cleasning the heart, whilst still holding our presence in the world. Balancing the male and female energies.

For me it is always such a powerful, beautiful flower to create in sugar. I welcome you to join me to learn how to create this special flower.

Inspiration

I have always loved being outside in nature and natural world is such a huge inspiration for my creative work! I spend lots of time outside! Whenever I get the chance to be out in the woods, meadow and garden I can usually be found submersed in nature! but my most favourite time to be outside is very early in the morning when the sense of peace is so powerful! The birds are singing and you feel like your the only person, in a vast tranquil envoirement. The time I spend in nature greatly influences my work. Do you remember my Mr Hare Cake design from 2016?! Well that design was inspired by meeting Mr Hare very early one morning in the field. He rushed off in his own shy why, but not before he had inspired a cake design, with a hand-painted Meadow pattern around the sides of the cake.

Our garden is always a constant source of inspiration, throughout the seasons! The Summer months are rich with flowers. These David Austin Roses are always amazing and a favourite of mine! Our David Austin Rose Class may be booked as private one to one or group session.

Seasonal Mini Cake Workshop

Its the end of a very hot weekend, here in Shropshire and yesterday we hosted the second of our seasonal mini cake workshops!

Cake Decorating in hot weather can bring an extra challenge! 😊 Ideally its always best to work really early in the morning on hot days, but ofcourse when you are teaching a scheduled group workshop this is not possible! But all the students, coped really well! Lots of water, and little breaks...along with lots of creative energy and here are several of the beautiful cakes inspired by the seasons!

We usually share lots of photos from our workshops on social media, but I have come to realise there are many of our students that do not use social media, (along with lots that do!😘), so I felt it would be lovely to start sharing photos from our workshops on the Blog too!

Private Tuition for Small Cake Businesses

There is a percentage of our one to one private tuition work, that is with small cake businesses....helping them to develop their skills further!

This Sugar floral bouquet is just one of the many floral wedding cake displays assembled with us, and the Blue Hydrangea's, and Roses were created with us during another Private one to one Class! Student then created White Hydrangea's at home!

The Secret Doorway

I adore finding little secret doorways in trees! This sweet little space has clearly been used by squirrels to store their nuts....but when you feel deeper into the space more is revealed and you feel it as a sacred space. And you feel its magic! The Magic of this little tree is often found by nature loving children visiting our Garden. One little one in particular loves to sit by this doorway!

I feel really inspired by this little doorway, at the base of the Ash Tree! So do stay posted to see what unfolds.

Summer

Its always so interesting to see the life cycle of the Meadow!

My most favourite time is when its grown to just about my knee height and you can easly see across the field as you walk through it! Then over time is starts to rocket in height! Until its then cut for Hay! And so the whole cycle can then start all over again!

I often feel alittle sad when the meadow is first cut...I kind of miss it! as for several months, I've seen it growing and walked through it many times in a day!

Oh well my dear Summer friend until next year! Thank you for all the joy and inspiration you have given me and will continue to give me as we move through into Autumn, Winter and Spring!

Christmas Workshops 2017

Well it's offical! The words "Christmas Cake Designs" have been mentioned!😘 There is always that moment during the Summer, when I am asked for the first time by a student "do I know what my Christams Cake Designs for this year will be?!"

I usually start my Christmas Workshop preparation beginning of August! To go online by early Sept or before if possible....So watch this space, the Christmas Fun is about to begin! I'll keep you posted!

This new class went on our site earlier in the week and was Fully Booked within a matter of hours! We are really touched you love the design. Sorry we never had chance to send out our newsletter advertising it before it was fully booked, but it is possible to book this class as a Private One to One Day! or for private groups of up 4 students.

Karen runs a small Cake business and attended a private session with me for flower arranging. During this session Karen chose for me to assemble the rustic floral garland and spray for her.

Sharing photos of the amazing Semi-naked Wedding Cakes created during one of this months group workshops!

It was a wondeful creative day! The students worked with both Sugar Flowers and Fresh herbs, to create stunning cakes!

Large rambling Rose and Blackberry are hand-made in flowerpaste....

Really proud of them all! Everyone did so well!

It is possible to book this class as a private one to one day or for a private group of 4 students.
